Ryan Canter Club

19 February 2024

2023 marked the 25th year in business for Ryan Canter Club who decided they didn’t want this significant anniversary to slip away without marking it in a very special way. Already a supporter of Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity, their team set themselves the target of raising a whopping £25,000 for the charity throughout the year.

Ryan Canter Club operates vehicle fleets all over the UK and specialises in sales, rentals as well as offering a unique concierge service, from their headquarters in West Sussex. Through an amazing series of events that included a golf day, summer picnic, football tournament, a trip to Goodwood races, a triathlon and culminating in a Christmas Ball, the team smashed their total and raised an astounding £26,557.55 (plus an additional £1,424.62 in gift aid)!

Keith Murray, Managing Director, of Ryan Canter Club said:

As a business, we have survived 25 years by caring about our customer’s needs. We provide what they need rather than trying to sell them what we have. This differentiates us from perhaps some of the larger players in the motor industry who have a higher profile and more money. Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity does the same with its work – catering for a specific need for its families whilst competing for funding with higher profile charities. We are honoured to be associated with such a worthwhile cause.”

Based in Cuckfield, Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity is the only early intervention service in the south-east of England for children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments that is open all year round.  They currently support over 75 children per week but, as word spreads, demand for this completely free service is rising significantly. With no statutory funding, Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity relies on donations from the community and companies like the Ryan Canter Club.

Glenys Creese, CEO, Dame Vera Lynn’s Children Charity said:

Support on this scale can be transformational for young children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments. The efforts and generosity of companies like Ryan Canter Club really can make life changing impacts for our children. It’s difficult to articulate how grateful we are but we see it every day in the faces of our children, who might not get the opportunities for learning new skills and socialisation as they do here at our centre, and the parents who look upon the charity as a lifeline. This significant amount of money will pay for us to run our entire operation for 13 days. Sincere thank you to Keith and his team, as well as all their suppliers and customers who contributed to this magnificent donation.”
