Rebound therapy allows children to have a positive, fun and engaging session whilst providing them with an important and beneficial service and improving their kinaesthetic awareness (helping children with their awareness of the position and movement of parts of their body).

It is hugely beneficial due to its sensory element. The movement of the trampoline helps to provide sensory input during a physical activity, and allows children to further their physical development, improving their gross motor skills, communication and emotional wellbeing.

The techniques used support children to improve their balance, posture, coordination and stamina, developing their muscle tone and core strength – an essential requirement for sitting unaided, standing or walking.

Engaging in activities like rebound therapy has been proven to result in enhanced concentration and communication.

How has rebound therapy helped our children?

All the consultants in the neonatal unit said repeatedly, ‘early intervention is key’ which is why we feel so strongly that all children like Jothi need access to support like we have with Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity.

– Jothi’s Mum, Kate

Born by emergency c-section at 32 weeks, Jothi spent his first 24 hours on a ventilator and the first 93 days of his life in the neonatal intensive care unit. His personal growth since coming to DVLCC is remarkable.
