What are swim sessions?

By incorporating exercises in the water, children can work on coordination, balance, flexibility and strength in ways that might be challenging on land. The warmth of the water can be calming, making it easier for children to engage in physical activity. The focus on water safety also adds an important layer of learning whilst they enjoy the benefits of movement.

In a fully heated pool, our qualified instructors show parents and carers how to best support their child in the water. The sessions are a great opportunity for parents and carers to bond with their child.

Our swim sessions take place at Horsham Swim School, RH12 4TW.

How have swim sessions helped our children?

Since Freddie has started at the charity I have been blown away by the friendliness and understanding of all the staff. I suddenly feel like our journey is not different and we are so included!

Freddie was diagnosed with Galloway-Mowat Syndrome, a rare life-limiting disorder. Since starting at DVLCC, Freddie has begun to learn new skills and is making great progress.

What our parents & carers say

That Rowan gets to go swimming means so much to us as a family. It’s great for building his core strength. Watching him enjoy the water and start to make progress gave us a lot of joy and hope during some of our darkest days. Only recently he was able to move himself across the pool with just a swimming noodle for support, and stand up unaided on a large float and balance. It was so amazing to see!
