Outreach supports the whole family to access play in their own home. Many of our families spend a lot of time travelling to hospital appointments or therapy sessions. Having someone come to their home and give them time to play as a family is invaluable.

Our team are able to take a range of specialist equipment directly into children’s homes, allowing them to access a wide range of different sensory experiences. These sessions help to continue children’s development, reinforcing skills learnt in their physiotherapy/ conductive education sessions.

All sessions are tailored to each family’s needs. Parents and carers can enjoy an hour’s respite, knowing their child is safe and learning through play. Sessions also help parents/carers and siblings engage in play-based interactions. Families can speak privately with our outreach workers about any challenges in a supportive, non-judgmental setting.

Those living within an hour’s drive of our centre can access our Outreach services. Our goal is to provide both practical support and meaningful play opportunities, ensuring children receive the best care while families gain valuable guidance and relief from their caregiving responsibilities.

How has outreach helped our children?

“All the consultants in the neonatal unit said repeatedly, ‘early intervention is key’ which is why we feel so strongly that all children like Jothi need access to support like we have with Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity.”

– Jothi’s Mum, Kate

Born by emergency c-section at 32 weeks, Jothi spent his first 24 hours on a ventilator and the first 93 days of his life in the neonatal intensive care unit. His personal growth since coming to DVLCC is remarkable.

“We feel so blessed to have your support for our amazing little girl. I can really see the positive impact the sessions have had. The way you all work together to help Layla progress is just incredible!”

Vicky, mum of Layla

“We’re so grateful for the incredible support and care Jos has given our daughter, Defne. She truly has a special gift – Defne plays and focuses better during her sessions than she does even with us at home.

It’s been amazing to see the progress she’s made, and we know it’s because of the kindness, patience, and expertise that Jos brings to every session. We can’t thank her enough.”
