Christmas Tree Recycling

Recycle your Christmas tree and transform a child’s life.

The way you dispose of your Christmas tree can make a big difference to the environment. Recycling your tree can reduce its environmental impact by up to 80% compared to landfill – and with our service, you’ll also be helping local children unlock their full potential.

On 4, 5 and 6 January 2026, our team of volunteers will be collecting Christmas trees across Sussex.

You can book online, or by contacting our team via email or phone. The suggested donation is £20, but we kindly ask that you donate whatever you can so that we can support even more children in 2026.

Once you’ve booked your collection, please place your tree clearly outside your door or garden gate our friendly team will collect it – there is no need to be home when our team collect.

Trees will then be recycled into mulch and wood chippings, supporting the environment whilst helping children with cerebral palsy, chromosome abnormalities and rare genetic disorders.

By recycling your Christmas tree, you’ll help reduce waste, protect the environment, and raise vital funds to transform children’s lives. Every tree counts – thank you for your support!

Volunteers holding Christmas trees.

A few things to know…

  • We only collect real trees and cannot collect artificial ones as these cannot be recycled.
  • Please ensure to remove ALL decorations and pots/bases as we cannot recycle these either.
  • Your tree must be ready to collect by 7am on Monday 5 January 2026. We cannot confirm which day or time your tree will be collected.
  • Please leave your tree in a visible location in front of your property. Our volunteers cannot enter your property (e.g., house, garden, gated driveway) or any confined spaces to access your tree. If our volunteers cannot find your tree, they will leave a calling card for you to get in touch with us so we can arrange to collect it another day.

Could you volunteer for us?

We’re looking for volunteers to join us on 5 or 6 January to collect and recycle trees throughout Sussex, between 9am and 4pm.

We are looking for:

  • Volunteer drivers with a van – to help collect trees from households. You’ll be given a set route to follow, collecting around 40 trees. Once your van is full, you’ll head to the drop-off point to unload the trees for recycling before continuing your route. You’ll need access to your own van, and we recommend bringing a friend or family member to act as your volunteer driver’s assistant – they’ll also need to register their details with us. If you don’t have someone who can help you, we can pair you up with one of our other volunteers.
  • Volunteer drivers’ assistants – helping drivers navigate and load the trees

If you are unable to help on our collection days, you could also:

  • Sponsor the fuel for our team to use.
  • Provide refreshments for our volunteer team
  • Offer staff from your business to volunteer and support the collections.

If you can help in any way, please contact the team, or register your interest here.

A huge thank you to Ryan Canter Club for supplying our vans!

Get your school involved this Christmas!

We’re encouraging schools and nurseries to help raise funds for children with cerebral palsy, chromosome abnormalities and rare genetic disorders by holding a:

  • Classic Christmas jumper day – children bring a donation to wear their festive jumper.
  • Christmas dash – children and teachers get sponsored to complete a fun run in their jumpers.
  • Sustainable jumper day – children make their own jumpers and bring them in for donations.
  • Your own creative idea – concerts/carols, class competitions, or any festive activity, no matter how small!

In return, your school will receive:

  • A fully supportive member of staff to assist you with planning and running your activity.
  • Coverage on our schools webpage, social media channels, and local press
  • A thank-you certificate for all the children who take part, recognising their contribution to the local community.

You can choose any date that suits you, and we’ll provide posters, certificates, donation sheets, and all the support you need.
