Walking and Trekking

If marathons have you running scared or cycling fills you with fear, consider a hiking or walking challenge.  You pick your distance and tackle these events at your own pace and at the same time take in some of the beautiful scenery around you.

Take a look at some of the walking events taking place across the country and if you would like to take on a challenge for our Charity get in touch by email: info@dvlcc.org.uk or call 01444 473274. We will be here to support you along the way and help set-up your fundraising page.

Three Peaks Challange

Date: 2nd – 4th July or 20th – 22nd August

Distance: 10,000ft climb/22 miles walk

Location:  Meet in Glasgow

Registration:  £95 per person

Sponsorship:  £810 minimum

One of our most popular challenges – The Three Peaks Challenge involves trekking for 15 hours, covering a total distance of 22 miles (approx.) within a 30 hour period. The itinerary has been designed to maximise your chances of success – remember, this is not a race! The adventure starts by summiting Ben Nevis, followed by Scafell Pike and then Snowdon. During the challenge we look to keep the walking time of 15 hours or less which is representative of completing the National Three Peaks challenge in 24 hours including travel time.

This challenge is graded as Extreme, and therefore requires a high level of fitness and stamina – training beforehand is essential. It may be tough, but the organisers have a dedicated Events Team who will be with you every step of the way, to ensure you have the best possible experience!
