Magic Carpet

We are thrilled to have taken delivery of our Magic Carpet at Dame Vera Lynn Children's Centre.

A 'magic carpet' is a fantastic interactive resource for the children which projects moving images onto any surface, allowing children to engage and play with them through a multitude of control devices, including their own torch. This interactive piece of equipment enables children to enter an exciting virtual world where they can feed the fish in a pond, scatter leaves in the air and play with the stars. In addition to our hands-on early intervention service, we also want to give our children the means to start to access the world outside and by having a magic carpet, this engages the children; they are having fun and learning to do things that they might not otherwise ever be able to do.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated money and supported us in holding events to help raise the funds to enable us to purchase our Magic Carpet.

Clifford Dann Estate Agents in Ditchling were the first company to get involved; they organised a coffee morning and prize draw at their office on 8th March to win two tickets to the Dame Vera Lynn Tribute concert at the London Palladium on 18th March.

Andrew Worrell from Clifford Dann said: "As a parent I think the work the Charity does is essential. The magic carpet will give the children a great way to use all their senses to interact with the world around them."

We have already started to use the Magic Carpet in our sessions and Joesph got the first turn to show us how it is done! Our Sensory room also incorporates a Bubble Tube and we have regular drop-in sessions with the Sensory Bus. Details of all sessions can be found on our Calendar
