Pilar joined Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity in January 2016 and, in partnership with our trustees, has been instrumental in ensuring a more sustainable future for the charity. Her role is a diverse one, from planning for Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity to providing guidance and leadership to our Board of Trustees, as well as looking for additional ways to support our families.
She also oversees the Charity's day to day service provision, fundraising activities, budget, finances and HR and has the pleasure of representing the charity at local and national events.
She says: "It has been hugely life affirming to meet and get to know our families, to find out a bit about their stories and to be able to work alongside them to help shape our new service offering. I really hope we can help our families to feel less isolated and instead much more empowered. It has also been enlightening to see the real benefit of focused, supportive sessions based upon the principles of conductive education. It has also been an honour to represent the charity at events; it is clear our wonderful president, Dame Vera Lynn, continues to hold a very special place in people's hearts."
