We help children aged 0-5 with cerebral palsy and other motor learning impairments make the best possible start in life – and give families the support and skills to continue their development at home.
Our early intervention services run all year round and enable parents to see the potential their child has and also helps them to feel more confident to participate more actively in their child's development. Our innovative and essential early intervention services follow the principles of Conductive Education. Sessions are delivered in partnership with parents to support their child to develop physically, socially and emotionally, forming the bedrock of the independence they can achieve later in life.
We provide hands on one-to-one and small group active sessions through our transdisciplinary team including Conductors, Paediatric Physiotherapist, Child and Family service support staff, Speech and Language Therapist and Outreach and Portage Accredited professionals. Children also have access to assistive technology, such as white boards, tablets and 'magic carpet.' We have a dedicated sensory room with bubble tubes, fibre optics and soft furniture which parents are welcome to use.
We also offer additional sessions such as messy play, music therapy with a qualified Music Therapist, swimming sessions run by SEN specialist swimming instructors and a parent support network. All these services are supporting the development of the child and giving parents a wider range of disciplines and experiences.
We are always looking for new ways to help our parents and are planning training sessions in Makaton (using signs and symbols to communicate) Paediatric 1st Aid and Mindfulness.
We celebrate the children we work with, no matter their ability, to show parents and the wider world everything they can do.
Since the Charity was established in 2001 we have helped over 600 families from across the Southeast. Over the past year we have supported 60 children, their siblings and families. Nearly every other week a new family contacts us for help.
No formal diagnosis or referral is required. All our services are offered free of charge. Families are welcome to drop into our Centre and talk to our staff, who can support them in taking the next step to helping their child.
