Sensory Play Sessions

In addition to our hands-on early intervention Conductive Education sessions we also want to give our children the means to start to access the world outside. Sensory sessions enable children to start to explore different textures, sounds and sights.  Our dedicated sensory room incorporates bubble tubes, fibre optics, soft furnishings and a 'magic carpet.' The magic carpet is a fantastic interactive resource for the children which projects moving images onto any surface allowing children to engage and play with them through a multitude of devices, including their own touch.  It enables children to feed the fish in a pond, scatter leaves in the air and play with the stars.

Our sensory room encourages activities that allow children to explore their environment, learn and develop their senses. This can improve their sensory skills such as hearing, sight, taste, smell touch, hand-eye coordination and language development. It also helps children to start to make sense of the world around them.

We also use eye-gaze technology in some of our sessions which is helping children to learn a new way of communication and interact with the world around them.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has donated money and supported us in holding events to help raise the funds to purchase our Magic Carpet.  We were also delighted to receive a substantial donation from one of our long-time supporters which enabled us to set-up our Sensory room.

Clifford Dann Estate Agents in Ditchling were the first company to get involved. Andrew Worrell from Clifford Dann said: "As a parent I think the work the Charity does is essential. The magic carpet will give the children a great way to use all their senses to interact with the world around them."
