Our Service During the Coronavirus Lockdown

In line with Government guidance to avoid non-essential contact, we took the decision to suspend our face to face service for all families as of 17th March.  We have not gone away though, and are working hard to continue to provide some support to our families so that their children do not miss out on our help during this COVID-19 shut down period.

"Yesterday's session was amazing; Aya and us enjoyed it a lot.  Thanks very much for your huge support to us.  Looking forward for next week."

"Please do pass on that it was a great session earlier.  Both Cyrus and I got a lot out of it and he was the tiredest I've seen him for a week afterwards, which is a good sign! Really very grateful to you for arranging."

More about our Service Offering during this COVID-10 shutdown:
  • We are now providing weekly video Conductive Education-based one to one sessions for individual families via Zoom.
  • We are sharing exercises that our parents can do with their children at home to carry on working on movement, muscle control and posture and that will help them towards their individual learning goals.
  • We are providing fun ideas and activities for our children to do.

Like so many registered charities now, due to the Covid-19 crisis, we have been forced to cancel all of our upcoming fundraising events in the coming months, which means that we will miss out on the vital funds these events would have raised for us.   We have taken the decision to furlough a number of our Service and Fundraising staff and are trying to minimise our costs in this shutdown period.   As we are not eligible for any statutory funding and as the Government has made no specific provision to help the charitable sector during this crisis, we really do need to call upon our friends and supporters to lend a hand.    We want to make certain we are able to once again open the doors of our wonderful and much needed service at a point when this crisis is over, and to try to help with this, we have launched an Emergency Appeal.  Please share this and donate if you can.

Virtual fundraising ideas for you at home in this shutdown period:
  • Donate with each purchase via Amazon Smile, Easy Fundraising or Give As You Live when you buy online.
  • Donate your coffee, lunch, pint or commute money or whatever else you aren't now spending on to us via our Just Giving page.
  • Becomes a Facebook Birthday fundraiser for Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity.
  • Challenge yourself and get your friends and family to sponsor you – a beard growing competition (ok, that may not be for everyone!), run a treadmill or garden marathon, climb the equivalent of Snowdon on your stairs, have a whole family sponsored silence (bliss!), a bake off challenge.
  • Share your skills and talents to friends and the rest of the world in exchange for donations – an online yoga or dance class, poetry reading, singalong, pub quiz
Please stay home and stay safe.  We look forward to meeting you again one day in the not too distant future.
