Community

Our local communities are extremely important and we rely on the public's support to enable us to continue our vital work. We receive no statutory funding  so every penny you raise for us really does make a difference to all the children and families who use our services.

£5 will buy us some new arts and craft resources  £14 will fund a swimming session for one child

£40 will fund an hour of music therapy for a small group   £54 will fund an hour of hands on Conductive Education

If you are an individual, local community group, school/college or company and would like to support us there are numerous way you can help by taking part in community fundraising. Take a look at the list below for some ideas as to what you could do or come up with your own ideas.  We can also supply you with some fundraising information and ideas so give our fundraising team a call to find out how you can get started.

Collection boxes

If you're a business owner and have some space in your premises, why not consider displaying one of our collection boxes. Customers can easily pop a penny or two in while at the counter and once full, we'll come and collect it.

Event, fair and fete hosting

Do you consider yourself the host with the most, or would like to organise a social occasion for your friends? Then why not make your get-together a charitable one. Dinner parties, quiz nights, at-home bake-offs and even knitting sessions can all be turned into fundraisers.

Or perhaps you run a business that exhibits at local fairs and fetes. We're always keen to hear from firms that could find space on their stall for one of our collection boxes or run a competition on our behalf. Dame Vera Lynn Children's Charity attends various public events throughout the year.

Schools and Colleges

Your school or college could raise money for us by holding a fundraising event such as a silly sock day, christmas jumper day or a bake-off competition - the list is endless. If you would like us to come and visit your school or college to talk to the pupils about the Charity and how they can get involved then please get in touch.

Chosen charity

Businesses will often elect to support a chosen charity throughout the year – and you can help us get picked as your employer's nominated choice. Is your place of work looking for a cause to support? Why not put our name forward.

Many supermarkets, including Waitrose and Asda, allow members of the public to nominate a local charity to be supported by the store for a month. If you'd like to help us in this way, fill in a nomination form next time you're in the aisles.

Local Clubs and Community Groups

If you are a member of a local club such as Rotarty, Lions or WI group our Community Fundraiser would love to come and talk to you about the work we do and how you can get involved in supporting our Charity.
